Several of you have probably noticed that within EPIC, UpToDate's Index on the left side doesn't work (as least for some providers). The instructions below are helpful to make this work if it isn't working correctly.
You need to register for UpToDate to fix this. If you register correctly, you will stay signed in on EPIC (just have to do once) and it will track your usage for CME (I believe it's Category I CME through UpToDate).
From UpToDate:
If users are experiencing issues with the index not displaying properly you will want to have them enable compatibility mode for the UpToDate website.
1. When UpToDate page is opened in Internet Explorer through EPIC navigate to Tools 2. Select compatibility mode(If enabled correctly selection will have a check mark next to it) 3. Page will refresh and index will appear
Second way to enable compatibility mode
1. To the right of the UpToDate.com URL select the torn piece of paper 2. Page will refresh and index will appear
In regards to registering you will want to have users access the Link through EPIC, this is very important so the EPIC EMR will link together with UpToDate properly.
1. When link is access through EPIC the UpToDate Website will appear
2. Top right will display Welcome (Site Name)
3. You please click on the Site Name
4. Next you will be directed to a page that has a Log On option and a Register option
5. User will create their Username/Password
6. If done properly user will not have to log in to the UpToDate site, site will display Welcome (Username created) when accessing UpTodate through EPIC
